FOSTER USM is Ultrasonic meter uses solid-state technology in acompact, totally encapsulated, weatherproof housing, for measuring potable cold water in residential, commercial and industrial services.


WORKING PRINCIPLE:

As water flows into the measuring tube, ultrasonic signals are sent consecutively in forward and reverse directions of flow. It is then determined by measuring the time difference betweenthe measurement in the forward and reverse directions. Total volume is calculated from the measured flow velocity using water temperature and pipe diameter. The LCD display shows total volume and alarm conditions and can toggle to display rate of flow.

MAIN FEATURES:

No moving parts permitting the most reliable and longer term life; lowest pressure loss;

High accuracy, unaffected by sand, suspended solids or air pockets;

Reverse flow detective;

 Alarm for low battery , over high/low flow in long certain time

USM is available with a wired lead from M-bus or RS 485, also it could be connect by wireless AMR/AMI endpoints

through LoRa or NB-IoT.

 Long battery life that support free maintenance up to >10 years

The meter is IP 68 water proof and completely submersible and can be installed using horizontal or vertical piping, 

USM will not measure flow when an “empty pipe” condition
